The Lantern League

Turn an ordinary Christmas lights walk into a glowing little adventure. The Lantern League is a richly illustrated family kit for spotting festive details, noticing colours and patterns, and discovering the science behind little lights and faraway stars. Choose a quick 12-item hunt, a bigger 24-item adventure, or one of four different Christmas lights bingo boards. Work together and enjoy the discoveries; you never need to find every box. A lit decoration or one illuminated by nearby lights can count. The 20-page book also includes a route planner, a draw-your-own trail map, Colour Detective and Pattern Patrol challenges, a creative story page, eight researched science facts, an eight-question quiz with answers, two postcard keepsakes, four explorer awards and linked source articles. Designed for ages 5-10 with an adult. Allow a flexible 20-60 minutes, or use the pages over several evenings. Print only what you need, bring a pencil and choose a route that suits your group. Hunt and bingo sheets also work with indoor displays. Postcards and awards can be cut out with straight cuts.
